Bio
The River Monks are proud to be musicians out of Des Moines, Iowa. They are an indie folk-rock band comprised of Ryan Stier, Joel Gettys and Nick Frampton. Stier handles most of songwriting as wells as lead vocals, guitar and ukulele; Gettys plays drums, percussion and glockenspiel; and Frampton shares songwriting duties with Stier and takes on the utility roll of whatever is needed in a song including guitar, ukulele, auxiliary percussion along with recording, producing and engineering their studio endeavors. Recently they added Drew Rauch as bassist and he's been joining The River Monks live. All band members sing, and they harmonize beautifully. Their songs are simple in nature but layered to the bone; high in energy yet low in volume. They draw their sound from acts like Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens, Good Old War and Iron & Wine to name a few.
