Bio

Distant Trains is the experimental project of Chuck Hoffman.  As bassist of longstanding Des Monies outfit Why Make Clocks, he has contributed work to numerous lo-fi, noise and indie bands, including two releases under his own name.  As Distant Trains, Hoffman seeks to develop his songwriting while experimenting with low-end effects, sludgy guitars, slow tempos and spaced-out atmospheres, creating a kind of electrified doom-folk.  On Distant Trains' debut, Congratulations on Your Suicide, Hoffman has constructed songs that focus on extremes ranging from electro-acoustic singer/songwriter to alternative metal and post-rock.
